If you want to get your mom or grandmother something a different this year for Mother’s Day, why not get her something sweet and special like her – Mrs. Prindable's Handmade Confections gourmet caramel apples.
I recently received a Triple Chocolate Jumbo Caramel Apple from the company to review. I love caramel apples and fondly remember my dad buying me one on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, NJ when I was a kid. He was a health food nut but let me have one since apples are good for you. At least that was his excuse. Frankly, he had a sweet tooth and loved a good treat.
Mrs. Prindable’s caramel apple review
My family and I split the jumbo apple four ways. (One jumbo can supposedly feed 8 to 10 people, though I recommend it for a smaller group so you can indulge in a few more pieces.)
The Triple Chocolate Jumbo Caramel Apple was:
- amazingly delicious
- decadent but wholesome
- gooey but crunchy
- sweet but tart
My husband and I agreed that the caramel contrasting with the chocolate and the tartness of the Granny Smith apple was what turned this into a fantastic dessert. The kids just wanted more!
Cost and shipping
From now on I’m a dedicated Mrs. Prindable’s jumbo caramel apple fan. However, like all good things, it comes with a price. No, not just the calories (totally worth it), but the actual price tag. One jumbo apple costs $22.95 plus shipping, which is around $22-23 for premium and $11-12 for economy from Niles, Illinois to Colorado. (Shipment to your area could be different.)
If you live near Niles, you can forego shipping and pick it up at the factory. You can also buy the apples at high-end departments stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, and Lord & Taylor during certain holidays.
Since Mrs. Prindable’s apples make a lasting impression, you may want to serve them at special events like when the boss comes to dinner, or at a baby or wedding shower. For these type of occasions, Mrs. Prindable’s carries Triple Chocolate Petite Apple Favors or Bride & Groom Petite Apples (12 smaller apples for $89.95). Again, hardly inexpensive, but an incredibly unique dessert your guests will appreciate and remember.
Mrs. Prindable’s also carries gift baskets and pretzel and caramel confection gifts for every occasion, including corporate gifts.
Special offer code for Mother’s Day
Mrs. Prindable’s has given me a special offer code for Mother’s Day! Just use code MOM52010 to receive $10 off an order of $30 or more. This code is valid through Mother’s Day. (Note that Wednesday will be the last day to order for Mother’s Day and ship via standard two day air shipping.)
