True North is Frito-Lay’s all-natural line of nut cluster snacks – no preservatives, artificial flavors or added colors. No high fructose corn syrup – yay! They’ve recently added several new protein-packed flavors including Apple Cinnamon, Citrus Burst and Almond Cranberry, which are available for around around $3.29 per bag.
Now I like nut and fruit snacks a lot and gobbled these up in no time*, which is why I won’t be buying these any time soon. They’re too delicious and rather addicting. I’d be scared that I’d plow through a case before I could stop myself. You might as well just glue the bags to my hips for all the good they’d do me!
I especially liked the Almond Cranberry Crisp and finished off a bag in about an hour. Well, I nearly passed out to learn that the whole thing has over 1500 calories, which is why I’ll be avoiding that shelf in the snack aisle at my supermarket. (The nut clusters are more like 850 calories a bag, but still.) They’re yummy but oh so deadly for someone like me who cannot control herself. Let’s just call it operator error, shall we?
If you have the metabolism of a hummingbird, sample True North for yourself by downloading a coupon for $1 off at TrueNorthSnacks.com. But if you’re watching your waistline, you may want to get some plain almonds instead and limit yourself to a small handful at a time.
